Loop Head & Lighthouse
The enchanting Loop Head Lighthouse is located at the tip of the Loop Head Peninsula, which is the furthest point west on the Clare coastline. The wild and rugged Atlantic coastline, contrasting sharply with the sheltered Shannon Estuary, truly sets a breathtaking backdrop to this lighthouse.
You can climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in all the splendid views that stretch from County Kerry to the Cliffs of Moher. At the very end of the peninsula there is also a relic from WWII: large white letters spelling É-I-R-E, which let pilots know they were entering neutral airspace. This area is a wildlife haven too, with thousands of seabirds making their nests on the rock ledges and an estimated 160 bottlenose dolphins living in the mouth of the Shannon River.
Here at Treacys West County Hotel, Ennis we are located a 1 hour drive from the Loop Head Lighthouse making us a good option for a hotel near the Wild Atlantic Way. Our reception team can also tell you where the best places to eat along the way are!

‘Amazing’
“This was the first time in about 15 years that I have holidayed in Ireland. It was superb. This hotel is so suitable for families, kids club, swimming pool, really child friendly staff, good choice of food and excellent breakfast. On the way home we went by Father Ted’s house. I would really recommend Treacys West County Hotel In Ennis and County Clare as a holiday destination.”
