Our hotel’s perfect location in Ennis makes it easy for our guests to check out popular County Clare attractions such as Father Ted’s house, the popular sitcom focused on three priests living on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland.
Fans of hit comedy show Father Ted would love to spend an afternoon visiting the iconic Father Ted’s house which is located in Kilfenora County Clare and is only a quick 30-minute drive from Treacy’s West County Hotel in Ennis.
The famous house is named the Glanquin Farmhouse and is the home of the McCormack family but is known by most people as Father Ted’s house.
Due to the site’s massive popularity, Cheryl and Patrick McCormack offer afternoon tea by appointment only. For afternoon tea at Father Ted’s house, they provide a welcoming and relaxing afternoon in their family home where people get to experience some familiar scenes from the show and even re-create some of their own Father Ted memories.
Upon request, the McCormack family also provide guided walks through the local landscape which includes a stone fort, cairns, fullacht fiadhs, a holy well and ancient church site as well as additional sites of archaeological interest. The combination of a guided walk through this rich, dramatic landscape followed by tea and home baking in the warmth of a family home with a colourful history makes this a rare experience.
Every year, there is a Father Ted Festival that takes place in Lisdoonvarna which is 40 minutes from Treacys West County Hotel. Ted Fest is an annual event where Father Ted fans dress up in Father Ted themed costumes and enjoy a weekend of Father Ted themed fun which includes a bus trip for afternoon tea at Father Ted’s house and a Lovely Girls event at night.
